Discussion and examination is given to quantifying initiating fire event likelihood’s and fire protection system performance reliability, following the methods in the book, Risk-Informed, Performance-Based Industrial Fire Protection written by Thomas F. Barry, P.E., who will be instructing this seminar.
The two-day seminar course is broken down into five training modules, which includes over 200 slides and 15 class-exercise problems. The general two day agenda follows: Day 1 Agenda

Fire Risk Forum will be holding two public seminars in 2007. For seminar schedule and registration information, Click-Below: Contract Seminars Fire Risk Forum’s Seminar Training Courses can be coordinated, contracted, and conducted in partnership with Hosts. Hosts generally include Associations with Fire Protection interests such as SFPE or AIChE Local Chapters, Organizations, Companies, and Government Agencies with interest in fire and explosion quantitative risk assessment methods and applications. For local
professional chapters with fire safety interests, such as local SFPE or
AIChE chapters, there can be a two-fold benefit in hosting an FRF
training seminar. One is providing a one-of-a kind training course on a
special-interest topic, Risk-Informed
Fire Protection Methods,
for Chapter members and invited guests. The second benefit is that
arrangements can be made between FRF and the Local Chapter for a % of the
seminar proceeds to be donated-back to the Local Chapter to help fund
future Chapter activities. If you are interested in HOSTING a Fire Risk Forum (FRF) Seminar Course, please contact us at; seminars@fireriskforum.com
Thomas Barry, P.E., Director of Fire Risk Forum, has over 27 years experience as an Industrial Fire Protection Engineer and Fire & Explosion Risk Analyst. He has performed numerous quantitative fire and explosion risk assessments and fire protection system reliability analysis for a wide variety of industrial hazards, including Fossil-Fuel Power Plants, Chemical Processing Plants, Oil Refineries, Oil Terminals, High-Tech Pilot Plants, LPG Bulk Storage, and Nuclear Fuel Processing. Over the last four years he has conducted over 38 Risk-Informed projects using FPS-LOPA (Fire Protection System-Layer of Protection Analysis) methods for hydrogen gas hazards, nuclear fuel processes, chemical processes, high-hazard product production operations, hazardous waste storage, solvent extraction processes, bulk-chemical storage, special-atmosphere furnaces, and for OSHA PSM and Performance-Based Fire Protection equivalencies. Thomas Barry has written many articles on fire and explosion risk assessment, has conducted seminars on Fire Dynamics, Fire Modeling, and Fire Risk Assessment, and is author of the book, Risk-Informed, Performance-Based Industrial Fire Protection, with books sold in 37 countries. Tom's Undergraduate degree is in Industrial Engineering, with a Masters Degree in Fire Protection Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Worcester Massachusetts. He is a registered professional engineer in multi-states and is a member of NFPA, SFPE, and AIChE. Contact Info:
